Travel by Train

Belarusians do enjoy traveling by train and prefer this means of transportation to anything else. It is less expensive than by air, one can also enjoy the countryside, talk or even make friends.

Below is the information which should be useful both if you book all services through our company or build a tour yourself.

The new, recently completed railway station (www.rw.by) building is situated in the very center of Minsk. Exits to the platforms, cloakrooms, shops, WC are on the ground floor. 24-hour booking-offices, information are on the 1st floor of the railway station. On the 2nd floor there are shopping rows, waiting hall, a post-office with an international telephone, a drug-store and bars.
Foreign currency can be exchanged on the 1st floor in the neighboring old building of the railway station or in the exchange offices across the road.

If you still choose to reach a hotel from the railway station on your own the easiest way of doing that is to take a Taxi! However one should bear in mind that:

  • “Crowne Plaza”5*****, “Minsk” 4**** hotels are within a walking distance from the railway station;
  • ”Planeta”***, “Belarus”3***, “Victoria”****hotels can be easily reached by No.1 bus which stops in Kirov street in front of the railway station;
  • “Orbita”3*** hotel can be reached even without leaving a metro (entrance from the building of the railway station). Board a train “Lenin Square” metro station, proceed to “Oktyabrskaya” station, change for “Kupalovskay (second line), proceed to “Puchkinskaya” to find yourself in front of the hotel on the exit.

Belarus is situated in the centre of Europe and that is why its capital city of Minsk is an important rail junction linking north and south east and west. All trains having Western direction come to Minsk, then go down to Brest, to the border.
