Route Minsk – Brest – Minsk
Tour duration: 3 nights/3 days

TOUR DESCRIPTION

This tour is for those who is interested in World War II. The route Brest-Minsk and the environs goes through the direction of the main blow of “Centre” Army Group of the Nazi Germany and acquaints with the defensive battles of the Red Army in June-July 1941 as well as with the heroic liberation battles in summer 1944. During the tour you will have a unique opportunity to have a look at heavy weapons of the both opposing side.

SUGGESTED PROGRAM

 Day 1 (Minsk)

  • Buffet breakfast in the hotel; 
  • City tour of Minsk  "Minsk - New Europen Capital" (old, Soviet and contemporary Minsk with the most famous sights on the route);
  • Visit to Khatyn War Memorial (the memorial was erected on the site of the Belarusian village of Khatyn burnt down by the Nazis  together with its inhabitants on the 22nd of March 1943. A six metre bronze sculpture of the «Unconqued Man», common grave of the villagers of Khatyn, «Wall of Sorrow», «Wall of Life» and other highly expressive sculptural compositions commemorate every fourth citizen of Belarus who died during World War II);
  • Overnight in the hotel (B&B).

Day 2 (Minsk-Brest)

  • Buffet breakfast in the hotel; 
  • Visit to the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War (the very first World War II museum opened during the course of the war in October 1944. The  exhibition is dedicated to all major defensive and liberation battles of the Soviet Army, partisan and resistance movement on the territory of Belarus);
  • Departure for Brest;
  • Transfer to the hotel;
  • Check in at the hotel;
  • Overnight in the hotel (B&B).

Day 3

Day 1 (Brest-Minsk)

  • Buffet breakfast in the hotel; 
  • Visit to the Brest Fortress War Memorial  (the memorial consists of the Fortress itself, well preserved and conserved ruins and separate highly symbolic monuments. There is an  impressive Gate made out of red granite shaped as a five pointed star.  The centre of the memorial is Square of Ceremonies with the building of the Museum of the Defense of the Brest Fortress and the remains of the White Palace on one side and on the other side an impressive sculpture “Thirst”. The Compositional Centre of the Memorial Complex is the major Monument «Courage» that features carvings, reflecting episodes of the heroic defense: “Counterattack”, Meeting of Commanding officers”, “The Last Grenade”, Machine Gun Men”. There is a 100 meter bayonet obelisk next to the sculpture with the eternal fire burning in front of it. There are tombstones bearing the names of the fallen heroes, although a word «unknown» is seen quite often. There is the Museum of the Defense of the Brest Fortress at a few meters' distance from  Square of ceremonies;
  • Included or optional lunch in the city centre;
  • Return to Minsk;
  • Check in at the hotel;
  • Overnight in the hotel (B&B).

Day 3

  • Buffet breakfast in the hotel; 
  • Departure to whatever destination of your choice.
